MEYERTON.-ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring reports that three people were injured yesterday following a collision between two light motor vehicles on Pierneef Road in Meyerton.
“ER24 paramedics, along with the Midvaal Fire Services, arrived on the scene to find both vehicles in the middle of the road.Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman lying trapped in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Assessment showed that the woman had sustained a head injury and was in a critical condition. Using specialized rescue equipment, Fire Services were able to free the woman.”
Meiring adds that the patient was treated for her injuries and provided with advanced life support intervention. “The woman was transported to Midvaal Fire Station where a private medical helicopter was waiting. The patient was airlifted to a private hospital in Johannesburg for urgent treatment.”
The driver of the second vehicle was assessed by paramedics and found to have sustained moderate injuries. She was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. A young girl, believed to be the daughter of the critically injured woman, was transported privately to hospital.”
Meiring states that local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.
