After making off with leather bags filled with cash, thugs left the cash van burning together with their white Mercedes Benz used to derail the money van off the road.

Shortly after the bombing, commuters jumped out from moving taxis to loot left over notes on the wrecked van with massive fire rising-up from the two vehicles and smoke billowing to the sky.

When Sedibeng Ster team arrived on the scene, high police visibility was already deployed together with fire engine to extinguish raging flames.

Several video footages widely circulated on social media shows groups of people shoving one another for left-over cash.

Speaking to the Paper, Gauteng provincial police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said police are on a lookout for suspects following a cash-in-transit heist in Sebokeng.
