Police raid home brewed liquor suppliers

Liquor, all kinds and forms of liquor is illegal to sell during the lock-down period.

EVATON. – The Covid-19 Police Unit from the Evaton Police station are all out in making people aware of this. Police Spokesperson, Captain Aubrey Moopeloa said that due to the scarcity of liquor people have resorted to making home made and traditional beer in numbers, to drink and to sell, thinking that they are not in the wrong side of the law, but that they were actually wrong as this constitutes an illegal offence.

Moopeloa said that the Covid-19 Unit raided informal settlements such as ‘Dubai’, next to Beverly Hills and Evaton West where they warned people about this.

“People resort to these kinds of brews such as ‘rapalla’, ‘skokian’ etc, as an alternative and we are warning them that this is illegal as these kinds of concoctions are also classified as alcohol which goes against the governments’ regulations.”

Moopeloa also warned those that continue to go to the Evaton Cemetery to clean graves that they too will face the full wrath of the law.

“Covid -19 lockdown regulations do not allow such movements except during funerals, which are regulated. Most robberies and hijackings also occur during these visits.”
