The Mahindra XUV700, the new 007 in the segment
Mahindra, already one of the fastest growing brands in the country, is set to enlighten and convert many more potential clients to buy into the brand.
It was launched in August 2021 and immediately went on to win the Indian Car of the Year award. Another 40 awards followed suit so it is no wonder that Mahindra is excited about its new prodigy.
To stimulate initial sales, the first 700 customers are in for a real treat – a free service plan or fuel card package.
The exterior offers an SUV stance, a prominent front end with a twin peaks logo, large front light clusters with daylight running lights, and visible wheel haunches that enhances the XUV700s string and masculine stance.
Underneath the ultra-high tensile steel body, the XUV700 boasts an all-independent multi-link suspension with frequency selective damping capacity.
It is powered by a 2.0 mStallion turbo petrol engine producing 149kW and 380Nm. It is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The interior presents the driver and occupants with a super screen – essentially the combination of two high definition 26cm screens.
All three variants of the XUV700 in South Africa are fitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which allow for a seamless connection with any smartphone. This also allows the driver to interact with his/her smartphone via the large infotainment screen and uses voice commands through Android auto and Apple car play.
Then there is Mahindra’s sky roof and a Sony 12-speaker sound system, wireless charging, and automatic door handles.
Safety features include 7 airbags in the top of the range model, a comprehensive advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) is standard and includes smart pilot assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and even traffic sign recognition.
Pricing starts at R474 999 and includes a comprehensive 5-year/100,000km service plan and a 5-year/150 000km mechanical warranty. A 24/7/365 roadside assistance plan is included for the same period.
