After accomplishing this big goal which the majority of individuals could dream of, Hannah still had concerns about the sport.
“The biggest challenge which I see and face in the world of soccer for girls is not having a lot of people join the sport. It’s not a very popular choice of sport for a lot of girls. It can be difficult to put together a team,” said Hannah.

Maliyah shared her recipe for success, which led her to make her supporters, families, friends and teachers proud. “You need to be dedicated, determined and able to persevere in any situation. You need to have a positive mindset whether you win or lose and most importantly do not be selfish with the ball. Do not forget about fitness, that is a priority with everything.”

The future of girls’ soccer at the school looks promising to say the least.

“This is a true testament that girls’ sport is growing. Both these young champions have always had that attitude in all that they did and in return they are now rewarded with this wonderful achievement, which I believe is just the start of greater things to come. Montrose is proud of you all,” concluded Makhosi Makara, head of boys’ sports.
