How to find the perfect baby shower gift

Are you looking for the perfect Baby Shower gift at an affordable price? Here is the solution?

Hearing that a friend or family member is pregnant is exciting news. Now your family is growing with a new addition. Before a baby arrives, they are going to be celebrated with a baby shower. Baby shower is a way of both celebrating the upcoming new arrival, and giving the expectant parents with everything they might need for their new baby. If invited it is expected that if you are attending a baby shower, you should bring along a gift for either the mother or the baby.

So, what could you buy for a baby shower? Remember that Baby Showers are a unique opportunity to give a personalised present.  You can choose a blanket and get it embroidered with the baby’s name, if they know it, or brand a favourite sports team logo on the teddy bears t-shirt.

Nappy-themed showers are also popular.  A nappy cake with a supply of nappies built into a cake shape, often two -tiered and decorated with ribbons and a soft toy – is practical and pretty and a great centrepiece.

You can find a wide range of newborn baby gifts online. It may depend on whether the person who is pregnant is welcoming their first child or not. Typically, new mums will need more ‘stuff’ to prepare for their baby – breast feeding cloths, baby clothes, bibs, etc. But, if your loved one has already had children – and is expecting their second or third for example – they may not need all of that, and instead use the things they had from their first child. It’s worth bearing these sorts of things in mind and rather give things like adorable bunny comforter, a lovely gift for any new-born. A Moses basket could also be a brilliantly welcome gift for a new mum too.

If you are sending a present and not attending, it’s a good idea to send it or deliver it ahead of the baby shower, so that the expectant parents have it in time. If you are struggling to decide on the appropriate amount to spend on a baby shower gift here are some guidelines.

If you are buying an item for a close friend or family member you should spend between R750 and R1500 on a gift. Whereas, if this a family member that you only speak to at Christmas of a friend that you really haven’t stayed in contact with that well then you can spend less on their gift and look to spend at least R400 on them.

So, before you purchase any gift for the mom-to-be think about how well you know them and let that guide you on how much you should be spending on them.
