Bramley police spokesperson says residents must work with police to curb crime

BRAMLEY – Spokesperson says it is his passion to see the community safe.

The spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said he joined the police 29 years ago because he wanted to see change.

“I wanted to serve and protect my community because I couldn’t stand to watch what was happening,” said Mogodi.

He started working in the crime prevention department at Bramley police in 1992 and has been working in the communications role since 2016.

“I still do operations patrolling the street but my main role is to get in touch with external role players and tell them what we are doing.

“My passion is to see my community safe. When I don’t receive complaints I am happy.”

Mogodi said police couldn’t protect the community without cooperation from residents.

“If you receive any information, tell us. Even if it doesn’t produce results it will help us to know where to deploy resources. Any suspicious people must be reported.

“People must not lose hope when they see crime. We, as the police, are able to help when we know what is happening in the community.”

Mogodi urged residents to take part in sector meetings as this was the correct platform to share information. He also encouraged residents to join crime WhatsApp groups in their area, which the police were a part of.

Looking ahead to the Easter holidays, Mogodi said community members must abide by the rules of the road and avoid drinking and driving.

“Stay safe in order to save lives.”
