COJ Speaker of Council Nonceba Molwele tests positive for Covid-19

JOBURG – All those who have recently been in contact with her have been informed and encouraged to self-isolate or go for a test when showing any symptoms, the City said in a released statement.

The City of Johannesburg has released a statement stating that the speaker of council, Nonceba Molwele, has tested positive for Covid-19.

“She had not been feeling well on Friday and had gone for a check-up. “Molwele received her results on Saturday, 20 March,” read the statement.

The City said Molwele remained in good spirits and was self-quarantining at home. “During this time she will be working remotely and we wish her a speedy recovery.”

Chair of Chairs councillor Salphina Mulauzi will perform some of the functions on the Speaker’s schedule.

‘It is our collective responsibility to continue to do our best to minimise the spread of the coronavirus by continuing to follow all health protocols of regularly washing and sanitising our hands, wearing a mask that covers both nose and mouth, and practising physical distancing at all times,” concluded the City.
