Him soo do goes online during lockdown

Him soo do dojangs in Benmore Gardens, and other studios in Joburg have gone online.
Practitioners of the Korean martial art, him soo do, have already had several online lessons and gradings overseen by sabonim (instructor) Shane Comley-White. Comley-White is a fifth Dan black belt instructor who has over 20 years’ experience behind him.
“Him soo do has taken complete advantage of this time and the lockdown period and we have been able to develop a fully functional advanced online training programme,” he explained. “Not only have we developed some new exciting opportunities, we have also hosted two online gradings. The time we had in the beginning of the lockdown gave us time to identify the most affordable, functional and practical platforms to use and how best to deliver our training to both our current and potential new students.

“We are proud to be able to offer the same options through our new online training platform where we are bringing home schooling to a new level of excitement. I noticed a change in the fitness levels of our family members and friends… and especially the school children. It’s been over three months of no PT at school, no extra-mural training, no playing sports.”
He said this is a concern for the development of youngsters but also adults. “We believe that being able to continue with some form of challenging physical and mental training at home has become a must. Thankfully, Him Soo Do Martial Arts has a solution to still keep fit, get strong, challenge your mental and physical abilities and at the same time have fun and socialise. We would like to encourage family members to train together.”
