Society for Animals in Distress needs your support

The society would appreciate help from residents far and wide in form of financial and material donations.

The Society for Animals in Distress (Said) is a veterinary care provider in the animal welfare sector.

Their veterinary work in the informal settlements of Diepsloot, Greater Tembisa, destitute areas of Montclare Johannesburg and Krugersdorp has been heart-wrenching, as they see the growing financial decline on already poverty-stricken areas. The society would appreciate help from residents far and wide in form of financial and material donations.

According to Said executive general manager Heather Robertson, “Our mission to drive access to veterinary care is faced with a far wider demand on our declining resources. Our compassion and humanity are being exercised to the limits as we seek to not only attend to animals but also the support of caring owners who hold the burden of responsibility for their families that includes their animals.”

In the understanding that humans are inextricably linked to animals and our work is based on education and service excellence, the highlighting of our on-site experiences is essential for public understanding.”Robertson added that the precepts of animal welfare regarding sterilisation are that no animal that receives welfare care can remain unsterilised. In the month of May, Said sterilised 337 animals, this number is significant as these are all new patients in addition to the large existing client base.”Servicing on-site, door-to-door needs, the interests of animal vulnerability is always considered. The critical factor at this time is to garner adequate resources to protect and support responsible family units in their present plight,” Robertson said.
