Exhibiting child portraits

SANDTON – Sandton artist Antoinette Reinecke displays child portraits in her latest Art Portrait Exhibition at Sandton City.

Artist and photographer Antoinette Reinecke has been displaying her latest portraits in person at the Art Portrait Exhibition in Sandton City, treating visitors to a variety of artwork and stylish photos.

The Sandton Chronicle visited the Sandton-based artist as she showcased her latest child portraits. “Kids need to see pictures that they relate to, a picture that will reflect them,” she said.

“Somehow there’s this mindset we need to break down into what is deemed as beautiful and not to conform to western standards.”

Reinecke explained what inspired her to focus on child portraits. “I love taking the time to plan a shoot and creating a portrait that is unusual and shows a different side of a child’s beauty and personality.”

Her outstanding artwork has seen her win the One Day In Time photo competition for Mandela Day, which was featured on lifestyle show Top Billing. “A panel of celebrity judges voted my photo of a lady called Gogo as the winning photo and I also went on to win three awards at Admired in Africa 2018.”

Despite her achievements in the art industry, the mother of two still has the desire to break boundaries. “I am very driven and I’ve worked hard to learn my craft.

“Portrait photography has so many intricacies that you can never truly master every facet. However, I know there are more things I want to create and to achieve and I am determined to be an eternal student of photography.”

Reinecke also advised upcoming photographers to remain resilient and dedicated to their job. “My biggest advice for upcoming photographers is to gain as much knowledge as possible and to master their craft.”

The photographer also added that knowing the fundamentals of photography is key.
