It’s not a long shot to take a magic carpet ride

Spice up your May evenings with romcom, A Long Shot.

Follow characters Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron) and Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogan) on their whirlwind journey of love and self-discovery. She’s a diplomat preparing to run for presidency, while he’s a talented journalist who’s free spirited but has a self-destructive streak. Their only commonality is that she used to be his babysitter and first crush. In an unlikely turn of events, they bump into each other and reminisce about their youth. In her haste, she hires Fred as her speechwriter, leading to an odd romance between the two. (In cinemas May 24)

Thrilling action. Memorable songs. And a genie who may be the key to a charming couple’s future. The adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin promises to mesmerise. We know (and adore) the tale, and in this adaptation, the creative team is said to have brought to life the fictitious port city of Agrabah through shooting the film amid the desert vistas of Jordan and on practical stages in London. This one’s directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott. (In cinemas May 24)
