Sandton SPCA appeals for December gift wrapping volunteers

SANDTON – The Sandton SPCA is in need of volunteers to assist with their gift wrapping stations at Sandton City.

The Sandton SPCA is calling for volunteers to assist with their gift wrapping service.

Jaco Pieterse, general manager of the Sandton SPCA said they do not receive government funding, and therefore must generate income from various fundraising events in order to keep their doors open – one of their major and most successful events being the December Sandton City gift wrapping service.

He said that all proceeds from the event go towards the vital work the Sandton SPCA carries out in the community. “Last year alone the Sandton SPCA treated 1 250 animals, performed 1 656 sterilisations and investigated 718 cruelty complaints. We also homed over 800 animals.”

The SPCA is in urgent need of people to volunteer their time for various gift wrapping shifts at Sandton City from 8 to 24 December. “The success of this event depends on the support of volunteers and the Sandton SPCA cannot do this without your help. Training will be provided to all volunteers.

Pieterse said without the support they receive from the community and entities like Sandton City, they will not be able to help animals and people. “By supporting Sandton City this festive season, you will in return be supporting the Sandton SPCA.

“Help us to help those who cannot speak for themselves.”

Details: If you are 18 years or older and can assist, please contact JP Van Wyk on pr@sandtonspca.org.za or 082 451 3346.
