  • Join the Dainfern Lions Football Club

Register online for your kids to join up for the winter season of the Dainfern Lions Football Club. Boys and girls aged four to 18 are welcome.

  • CanSurvive support group meeting

Speaker Christa du Toit, a pain control specialist who has helped many cancer patients, will address the attendees of the next CanSurvive support group meeting in Parktown. Afterwards, there will be refreshments, generously provided by Netcare, and then attendees will spend time sharing news and stories. Patients, survivors, caregivers and friends are all welcome at the meetings.

When: 10 February at 9am

Where: Hazeldene Hall, Junction Road, Parktown

Cost: There is no charge and there is no need to book.

  • Three-koppie group hike

Flex your muscles and explore the Melville Koppies on a hike of up to 10km. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. No dogs.

When: Sets off 8.30am sharp on 11 February

Where: Park, meet and pay in the upper car park at Marks Park, Judith Rd, Emmarentia, opposite our entrance.

Cost: R60 adults; R40 children. All donations used to maintain the Koppies.

  • SA Lipizzaners presents three Valentine’s Day performances 

Share in the spirit of love this Valentine’s Day with dazzling performances by the SA Lipizzaners.

When: 11 February at 10.30am, 14 February at 7pm and 18 February at 10.30am

Where: The SA Lipizzaner Centre at 1 Dahlia Road in Kyalami

Entry: Tickets are R100 a person per show

  • Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Ark Animal Centre

As Valentine’s Day approaches, Ark Animal Centre will host the Ark’s Valentine’s Day event at 17 Howard Avenue in Chartwell on 11 February at 10am.

Attendees are allowed to bring picnic baskets and enjoy a day filled with puppy love.

A photo booth will be present at the event.

The centre is a non-profit organisation which specialises in puppies, pregnant females and small-breed dogs.

Their aim is to change the consciousness in attitude of people towards animals in the country through education and awareness and to promote animal welfare and animal rights.
