Jalapeno pips Tomato in chip stand-off

SANDTON – Doritos fans compete for prize money and flavour domination in a final stand-off.

EFC Sandton recently played host to a fight that would leave most pugilists baffled, for this was not a test of physical prowess and cunning but a battle of flavours.

Doritos South Africa asked its fans to show how bold they truly were and they surely didn’t disappoint with one fan even getting a Doritos tattoo on his back.

“The idea behind the Doritos Battle of the Bold competition is to pit two flavours against each other, namely Tomato Sizzler and Jalapeno Poppers, and ask the fans to show their support for one of the flavours in a bold and exciting way,” said Wesley Chetty, Doritos brand manager.

“We have been blown away by the support shown by our fans. They have truly gone above and beyond what we expected. It’s an honour to have so many people believe so strongly in what we do.”

The boldest fan on the day was Taryn Laken Petersen who walked away with a check for R20 000. Petersen represented the Jalapeno Poppers team. “I have always been a very competitive person and I think this is what made me push myself to win,” said Petersen.

Peterson won Battle of the Bold competition after dancing in the streets of Cape Town whilst wearing a jalapeno costume.
