Art and performance come to Jozi

MABONENG – Dam Ditty Doo is set to host an exciting exhibition in Johannesburg in June.

The German-based initiative for creatives, Dam Ditty Doo (DDD) will host a day of fun at Maboneng in June.

Started in Germany, DDD supports children from different cultures, nationalities and diverse socioeconomic backgrounds in the field of visual and performing arts.

The aim of this initiative is to facilitate the growth of the children according to their different talents and abilities and to introduce them to the world of visual and performing arts.

Children in South Africa are in need of such channels to develop their talents and to be afforded the opportunity to become professionals in what they love doing.

There’s no better place to showcase the talents of the young locals than in Johannesburg’s cultural centre, Maboneng’s Agog Gallery.

On 30 June, DDD will bring a number of young creatives to the venue to showcase works of art, comedic talents and live music performances.

Tiny Wensky is the artist on show for this event.

Born in 1960 in Hamburg, Germany, Wensky grew up in various countries and was fortunate enough to meet people from all walks of life. After completing her schooling in 1980 she studied fashion design in Paris and became a designer and art director for some of the most amazing internationally known fashion companies worldwide including Thierry Mugler, Claude Montana, Kansai Yamamoto, Puma and Diesel.

It was in 1995 when she studied graphic and multimedia design and became art director of a prominent publishing company in Germany.

Later on she began creating anti-racism art and what she will display on 30 June is a product of years of art-making.

Singer Nomisupasta, comedian Ambrose and the youngsters from DDD will also perform at Agog on the day.
