The Gruffalo comes to life at Theatre on the Square in Sandton

SANDTON – The South African version of The Gruffalo opens on 11 April and you're encouraged to go watch it.

 

The South African version of Tall Stories’ The Gruffalo, which is currently playing in London’s West End, will begin its epic showcase on 11 April at the Auto and General Theatre on the Square in Sandton.

The picture book, The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler in 1999, is a worldwide phenomenon, having sold more than 13 million copies in 75 editions worldwide.

The stage production brings the characters of The Gruffalo to life while remaining true to the story.

Ayanda Nondlwana, Nombasa Ngoqo, Sisonke Yafele and Mandisi Heshu are directed by Tara Notcutt in a production ideal for children between the ages of three and 10 as well as their parents.

For a special treat, bring the family to join the mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in the magical musical adaptation of the classic picture book.

The Gruffalo is in town until 7 May with two shows on most days. The production will showcase at 11am and 3pm.

Tickets cost R85 for adults and R75 for children and pensioners. School or group bookings of more than 30 persons will receive a special price of R65 per ticket.
