More than just brains

JOBURG – See which young local is a Miss SA semi-finalist...

Odirile Sepeng (23) is a beauty with brains and a big heart.

Not only is Sepeng in her third of study at Varsity College Waterfall, but she is also a Miss South Africa 2017 semi-finalist.

She said she entered Miss South Africa in the hopes of using the prestigious platform to create awareness about mental health issues and breaking the stigma attached to it, youth development and to empower women across the country.

“Completing my IIE bachelor of commerce in law degree is the first step towards me becoming an advocate and I’m determined to better the life of my community by ensuring justice for those who are not within reach of proper legal services,” said Sepeng.

Her grandmother enrolled her in Latin American and ballroom dance classes where she found her feet and a passion for dance. Today, she is a member of the Pretoria State Theatre dance group and competes across South Africa.

Sepeng said she lives by the phrase, ‘To reach your greatest potential, you’ll have to fight your greatest fears’ and hopes other young children will also try to reach for their dreams and represent their communities.

The crowning of Miss South Africa will take place on 26 March.
