The South African Customer Satisfaction Index (Sacsi) has released the top seven most preferred phones for South African consumers for 2016.

Apple seems to be the trailblazer, topping the chart at 83.5 per cent of the user-satisfactory score.

The survey was carried out among 1 700 phone handsets. Customer Expectations Index, a Service Quality Index, a Product Quality Index, a Perceived Value Index and a Perceived Quality Index, to achieve an overall result out of 100.

Trailing on the Apple’s coattails, were Samsung and Nokia, with 80.6 per cent and 79.5 per cent, respectively. The new arrivals, Sony and Huawei, are making names for themselves as well. Both handsets ranked on par with the industry average, with Huawei scoring 77.2 and Sony, 76.2 among consumers.

The group explained that Blackberry was the only handset to drop in the index with a satisfaction score of 71.4.

Top seven phones:

1st Apple

2nd Samsung

3rd Nokia

4th Industry average (other phones on the market that fall into multiple handset categories)

5th Huawei

6th Sony

7th Blackberry.
