Locals are entertained In The City

JOBURG – With all the activity taking place over the weekend, we hope you didn't miss the Superbalist events.

Superbalist threw a two-day-long ‘rager’ at multiple venues last weekend and, in case you missed it, we have the rundown.

From 8 to 9 October, Superbalist.com – an online fashion and shopping portal – took over Johannesburg with two of their most exciting events to date, which afforded the people of Jozi to see a number of local and international musicians live on our soil.

The company jumped on board the In The City event this year – which was last year hosted by Vodacom – and presented locals with a Braam Beach Party and the much-anticipated Superbalist In The City music event.

The Braam Beach Party, which was set to take place at Braamfontein’s Beach venue on 8 October, was moved to the Mary Fitzgerald Square at the last minute, but with a line-up including some of our favourite local talent such as AKA, DJ Tira and Riky Rick, among others, no music-loving local could be deterred.

On Sunday, 9 October, people got a taste of some international talent at the In The City leg of the weekend at Emmarentia Dam. Joburg was floored by international rap star Mac Miller who performed some of his new tracks and some of the hard-hitting underground music that saw the start of his career.

Beardyman ignited Emmarentia Dam with his internationally renowned beat-boxing talent.

Foster The People also treated the crowds to some of their unique, addictive, quirky dance-infused pop and rock music, which was preceded by the likes of the exciting bands, Shortstraw, Sol Gems and Grassy Spark.

Mac Miller noted to his fans that he was in awe of the support he found in the City of Gold. “Johannesburg was beyond amazing. Wow! I’m blown away.”

In the meantime, the Jacksons took to the stage at the DStv Delicious Food and Music Festival at the Kyalami Race Track and they too served up an unbeatable performance, paying tribute to their late brother and proving to fans that they’ve still got it!
