Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Development, Nonhlanhla Sifumba is determined to ensure that recreational facilities in the City are safer.

Sifumba was speaking at the official launch of the City’s Heritage Month programme that was held at Joburg Theatre. Evidently excited about her new portfolio, which she has dubbed as a portfolio of happiness, the outspoken and bubbly MMC said she will enhance what the previous administration started. “I’m not going to disrupt what has been started. I’ll continue with it, but do it better.”

At the top of her agenda, is ensuring that facilities in the City are safer, especially parks. “I want to make sure that the family atmosphere is promoted. Everyone needs to feel safe when visiting City facilities.”

To achieve this, Sifumba highlighted that her department will push for bylaw enforcement. “No drinking will be permitted at City facilities, Metro police will be deployed to enforce this bylaw that most people have not been adhering to for a long time.”
