WATCH: Two men involved in Nazeer’s case sentenced to 6 years in jail

JOBURG – Do you know anything about the disappearance of Nazeer Mohammad? Help his family find closure or joy in his safe return.

Two men found in possession of missing businessman Nazeer Mohammed’s two cars and cellphone were sentenced to six years in jail at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 29 August.

Robert Nembaka and Rotshidzwa Netshiavha were convicted in November last year of stealing Mohammed’s cellphone, and a Toyota Corolla and an Opel Astra registered to the missing man’s car dealership in Jeppestown. Mohammed, a Johannesburg businessman who has been missing for four years, was last seen at his dealership on Jules Street in Jeppestown on 7 December 2012.

Nembaka and Netshiavha claimed they have no knowledge of what happened to him.

Mohammed’s mother, Shaieda Seepye said the past four years have been difficult for the family and all they want is closure. “We still have no closure and we appeal to the hearts of the convicted to tell us what they did to Nazeer,” said the distraught mother.

She added that there was sufficient evidence for kidnapping charges to be brought against brought against Nembaka and Netshiavhathe. “We appeal to the Minister of Justice to review the court process. We met many South Africans in court waiting for their cases to be heard, many taking years as there is an overload of cases,” she added.

“This caused enormous emotional strain and illness as, for over three-and-a-half years, we had to see the faces of the people who took Nazeer away from us.

“My son was a breadwinner and was taking care of us. At that time, we did not even apply for pensions and now we are forced to apply because we can’t make ends meet.” She added that Mohammed was a very charitable man and donated a lot of money and time to those in need.

Mohammed’s father Abie Seepye was equally downhearted and said all they wanted to know was where their son was, as the whole situation was taking a toll on them as parents. “We were even prepared to drop the case. Just tell us where our son is,” he said.

The parents said they have left Mohammed’s room and his clothes as they were, hoping that one day their son will come home.
