Geordie Shore starring South Africans?

JOBURG – Could you be a Geordie Shore South African star?

South Africa is all about adaptations and there’s yet another one coming soon.

The TV shows Lip Sync Battle and Ridiculousness have been adapted for South African audiences and each series recorded with hosts from our very own country.

Lip Sync Battle Africa, hosted by TV personality Pearl Thusi and singer D’Banj, as well as Ridiculousness Africa, hosted by TV personalities Boity Thulo and Thomas Gumede, and comedian Basketmouth, have been met with great responses.

Now, after the reasonable success of Clifton Shores, adapted from Jersey Shore, there are rumours that South African producers are keen to make an adaptation of Geordie Shore too. An advertisement posted online calling for male characters to inhabit the house had students and party animals keen to apply and live the party lifestyle of a Geordie.

This alleged call to action has not been denied by MTV, but an inside source has explained that while there are talks to adapt the show for South Africans by South Africans, nothing has been confirmed just yet.

Just in case the show does receive the green light, all those interested in taking part should be aware of the criteria listed on the advertisement:

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 32.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Applicants must be comfortable with nudity.

It is alleged that weekly wages for taking part in the show would be R72 000.

Would you take part in Geordie Shore South Africa?
