Miss Gay Jozi 2016 is crowned

JOHANNESBURG - See who took the title of Miss Gay Jozi 2016.

In the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community (LGBTI), 10 of its most fabulous members strutted their stuff with the aim to be crowned Miss Gay Jozi, but only one could be the queen!

Miss Gay Jozi was held on 28 May at the Johannesburg City Hall in the Johannesburg CBD.

It was a glamorous night to showcase the best of the gays, drag queens, transgender and intersexed women who have been working tirelessly to be the best women they could be, and compete for the prestigious Miss Gay Jozi crown.

The host of the show, the Queen of the Queens, Zsa Zsa Whitney Gabor Houston – who is also the organiser of the annual event – played many parts in the show and didn’t disappoint during her intense drag performances of a number of popular songs.

Houston was not the only performer on the night and shared the stage with other drag queens including Rosslyn van der Woodsen Bass, Foxy and Labelz D’Glamour.

The stunning ladies competing for the title of Miss Gay Jozi took to the stage in a number of looks throughout the night: a white outfit, cocktail dress, swimwear and ball gowns, and made sure to strut their stuff for all to see.

The panel of esteemed judges comprised designer, Quiteria Kekana; Jody Jacobs, Gaddray Stewart, Timothy Bernard, Jade Camp and Lisa Adolph, who judged each of the girls on their multiple looks and, most importantly, on the final question of the evening.

By the end of the night, the winner was announced and this person, as the flamboyant host explained, “Is someone who believes in themselves and someone who stands up for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transexual and intersexed community.”

The six judges crowned the audience’s favourite throughout the night as Miss Gay Jozi 2016 – Roxy Msiza.

Keep a look out for the 21-year-old Msiza during her reign as Miss Gay Jozi to see how she will represent the LGBTI community of Johannesburg.
