A rocking charity event

RIVONIA – The Paige Project, a non-governmental organisation that raises funds and awareness for children with cerebral palsy, will be hosting Rock of Paige’s at Lyoness in Rivonia on 2 April.

The Paige Project primarily raises funds by hosting three major events throughout the year and the Rock of Paige’s event is their latest venture.

“The Paige Project has always wanted to be involved in using music as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness,” explained Grant Nock, treasurer of the project.

“We want Rock of Paige’s to be an annual event where people can enjoy themselves and spend time with loved ones while raising funds for underprivileged children living with cerebral palsy.”

He went on to say that the Paige Project was inspired by a little girl named Paige, who was born three months premature and fought to survive, despite developing epilepsy, brain damage and cerebral palsy. “After assisting Paige’s parents to purchase a specialised wheelchair for Paige, we realised there was more we could do for underprivileged children living with disabilities and cerebral palsy.”

Nock revealed that guests can look forward to delicious food stalls, top-notch craft beers and fantastic live entertainment – all within a cosy indoor venue in case the weather turns nasty.

The event will see a number of talented local musicians taking the stage, including Jasper Dan, Jaryd Smith, Phil Moffet and Beverly Jane, with more acts being announced every week until the event takes place.

“When I heard about the event, I saw it as a perfect opportunity to give something to the project. These guys really do amazing work and this is really my best way of being able to help them do what they do,” stated East London-born singer Beverly Jane, who will be performing a brand-new single from her second solo album.

“I am going all out for this show. I have recruited my favourite top musicians to join me on stage so we can give our rocking best to the Paige Project! I’m really looking forward to rocking the stage on this very special day on what I hear is a kick-ass stage in an awesome venue!” exclaimed Jane.

Nock concluded by saying that the funds raised by the Rock of Paige’s event will be used to create more awareness about the project, bring in more assistance to build the centres and supply wheelchairs to children who need them.

Rock of Paige’s will take place from 2pm at Lyoness, Rivonia on 2 April.

Tickets cost R70.
