Local singer goes international, needs assistance

SANDTON – A young Sandton singer has been invited to perform in front of international agents at a showcase in the USA next year.

Amber Beekmann had just turned 13 when she received news that she was chosen to travel to the USA to showcase her talent for top agents in the performance industry.

This came after a number of nerve-wracking auditions involving many youngsters from all over Africa. About 500 other singers had showcased their talents in front of a panel of judges, which included Kim Myers, an international talent scout from Orlando.

Subsequently, Beekmann was finally invited to perform in front of the international agents in America.

Music has always been important to Beekmann and her grandmother sent her to Kinder Muziek class at age three and she picked up a guitar for the first time when she was five.

“We were visiting some friends and I heard this guitar-playing behind me and when I turned to look who it was, I was totally taken by surprise,” said Beekmann’s mother, Sky.

“She still plays guitar although singing is her greatest love.”

Beekmann, who has just turned 14, is ready to take on this incredible opportunity and requires the assistance of the community to help her reach her dreams. She will perform in numerous categories aside from singing including modelling, acting and dance.

“The privilege of all opportunities carry the responsibility to honour them,” said Amber. Community members are asked to donate towards Amber’s trip to America. “Your assistance is urgently required to help make this dream a reality,” said Sky.
