JOBURG - We love music, so we thought we'd investigate some of the music videos shot in our city.

Have you ever watched a local or international music video that was shot in Johannesburg and wondered how many videos were set in the city?

Well, we have, too, so we’re going to give you some information about five music videos that were shot in and around Johannesburg.

One of the most well-known music videos in South Africa was shot in Johannesburg. AKA’s Run Jozi became a national sensation when he and K.O. shut down the city by closing off the Nelson Mandela Bridge during the filming of the video. The inner-city chaos resulted in a chart-topping hit for the two local rappers.

Another well-known music video is Your Body by local RnB and house music makers, Mi Casa. The video was shot in the urban rejuvenation precinct, Maboneng. The lively and innovatively designed inner-city neighbourhood made for a great setting for the music video.

Local alternative band, Desmond and the Tutus, made a splash in local music with the release of their music video for the hit song, Teenagers. The band tours the city in the music video and compares old pictures of the city to the lively Johannesburg that we know today.

Electronic Dance Music producer, Skrillex, shot his music video for Ragga Bomb in Johannesburg in 2014. The video makes use of the dilapidated buildings in the city and creates some disturbing industry that makes for an interesting video.

US rap duo, Rae Sremmurd, recently visited South Africa for the Axecess Jozi concert, and while they were here, took the time to shoot the music video for their chart topper, This Could Be Us. They perform against the background of the city, on the Nelson Mandela Bridge, and even visit a game park to really experience South Africa.
