SA Fashion Weeks’ Dean throws shade

JOBURG - It has been a little more than two weeks since the end of South African Fashion Week (SAFW), and the winners of various competitions have been announced.

Fashion week was once again held at Melrose Arch where designers are encouraged to build their fashion brand while building their fashion line for the show, and it was no different for those who entered the competitions.

At the end of the journey, which began a long time before fashion week kicked off, it was Johannesburg-born Dean Charles Hauptfleisch who won the SAFW Sunglass Hut New Talent Search for 2015 for his collection titled, With, in a competition that was not limited to sunglass designs.

Hauptfleisch was drawn to the fashion scene while working abroad but returned to his roots in Johannesburg after winning Elle’s bursary to Lisof fashion school. The contest winner now works at Lisof, teaching the skills he is most passionate about.

It was also announced that the winner of the SAFW Menswear Competition was Henni de Kock with his collection Rogue Wear.
