Soweto’s Finest launches new single in NewtownORWhat are you doing here, dude?

JOBURG - Soweto’s Finest, the first dance crew in South Africa to have two music singles under their belt, recently celebrated 10 years in the dance and singing industry with the launch of their second single, Uzeleni.

The crew choreographs and performs all genres of dance under the leadership of Thomas Chauke and Sandile Shange.

They describe themselves as the kings of primetime entertainment and a group that can enhance any headline act and match the quality of performance, in addition to being a perfect representation of a rainbow nation.

The group, which was founded in 2006 and comprises more than 36 members, officially launched the new single on 6 August at Newscafe in Newtown Junction, receiving a great response from those in attendance.

Their first song was released in 2012.

“It has been a long and rewarding journey for us to be where we are at today. We managed to sustain the business by dance performances which come through bookings, host our own events and workshops and choreograph music videos for well-known South African musicians,” said Chauke, choreographer and co-founder of Soweto’s Finest.

“From all the experience we have gathered from working with the likes of Somizi Mhlongo, Micasa, Professor, Oskido, DJ Tira, DJ Cleo, El’Vovo, Cassper Nyovest and Moneoa, we then decided that it was time to launch our second single named Uzeleni,” said Chauke.

“The song is about people who go to parties with no planning and absolutely no intention of having fun; people who complain about paying an entrance fee to get into the party and people that just stand there the whole time and do not even buy drinks. Uzeleni is translated as ‘why did you come here?’ or ‘what are you doing here?’,” he said.

The song features DJ Cleo, who also produced the single.
