An unexpected love story

SANDTON - A proudly South African English/Afrikaans-language film, Konfetti, will be released soon.

United International Pictures in Sandton organised a press conference in which the film’s director and producer, Zaheer Goodman-Bhyat shared his anticipation about the release of the film. “I am massively proud and excited for people to see it,” he said. “A lot of people said we’d never make it.”

Goodman-Bhyat described Konfetti as “an unexpected love story that will make you laugh and cry”. He added, “The movie is all about the best man who has the best intentions to keep things together for the first time in his life and how all the colourful personalities and their idiosyncrasies, as well as the stress and emotions surrounding the big day thwart his plans.”

Goodman-Bhyat said there were a number of challenges during the process of making the film. “Making movies is a series of obstacles,” he said. “The process is endless, from the writing, down to the money involved. It’s the price you pay for the life you choose.”

He said the movie was something everyone could relate to, not only in South Africa but the world. The story is based on a play written by Louw Venter who was equally instrumental in the production of the film. He is also starring in the film alongside Nico Panagio, Casey B Dolan, Kim Engelbrecht, Casper De Vries, Christel van den Bergh and Jana Strydom.
