An unforgettable season packed with extraordinary moments await

ESPN Africa continues to embrace football as a cornerstone of our unparalleled programming.

To celebrate the kick-off of the 2023–24 European football season, ESPN Africa hosted the inaugural ESPN Africa Soccer Challenge on August 3 at Discovery Soccer Park in Sandton.

Clients of the channel, partners in sporting events, and local media members all participated in the fun as mixed teams competed against one another in 5-a-side football.

The Betway team departed with the trophy after a fantastic day that was had by all.

Highlighted at the event was that ESPN Africa will once again be broadcasting the Belgian Junior Pro League, English Football League, Eredivisie, and Scottish Professional Football League this season.

According to Kyle De Klerk, director of sports at The Walt Disney Company Africa, the German DFB-Pokal Cup has been added to its programming, promising audiences across the continent an enthralling experience with Europe’s most captivating football moments.

“Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, live broadcasts of football games will be available for African viewers, along with additional weekday coverage.”

De Klerk added that by enhancing the action from the fields, ESPN Africa will share behind-the-scenes updates and exclusive content on its social media feeds when these premium European football leagues kick off.

A media-invisible team member who came second at the soccer challenge day, Thabiso Mloyi, said the day was great and they thoroughly enjoyed it with his team members.
