Meet the paddling superstar, Bradley Boulle

The young paddler participated in the South African Marathon Championships held in St Francis Bay.

Bradley Boulle, a 22-year-old paddler from Durban, KwaZulu Natal, grew up in the city and now resides in Parkmore, Johannesburg.

He started paddling when he was 10 years old and he has been self-inspired largely, however, his family always encouraged him to keep going and spend more time on the water.

According to Boulle, the volume of training for paddling excites him more than anything. Discipline is very important in his training and ensuring that he gets good sleep and eating well always allows him to train harder for longer.

“The training has increased. I used to paddle five to six times a week. I am now paddling seven to nine times a week. I spend more time in the gym and have extended my long sessions from two hours to three hours.”

The best performance he has given was his last race at SA Marathon Championships in St Francis Bay. “It was a very competitive field and I was very pleased with my performance in both the K1 and K2 races.”

His strong paddling memory was doing his first Fish River Canoe Marathon with his brother at 13 years old, and about the paddling world, he likes people he had met before because of paddling.
