Ice hockey star receives cum laude honour’s blazer

A local learner at a Sandton-based college continues to make big moves in his hockey career.

Crawford International Sandton College prides itself on its learners, who have been excelling in their designated sports.

The college hosted an assembly that celebrated and rewarded the learners for their prestigious achievements.

Chisomo Boshoma, Sanjana Ramlall, Amilkar Bhana, and Christiaan Geyer were among the learners who were celebrated.

Christiaan, whose passion for ice hockey began at the age of five, received his cum laude honour’s blazer at the assembly.

He explains that his hockey journey began at a birthday party, where he fearlessly and without hesitation skated to the middle of the rink and ignited his passion for the ice.

For years, Christiaan was a committed club player for the Grizzlies and later moved to play for the Wolves. He has received green and gold national colours for his ice hockey skills.

“Ice hockey has always been about honouring the game and playing as a part of the team, where no one player is greater than the other.”

He adds that he worked extremely hard, and when he faced challenges, his determination and passion always motivated him to pull through tough times.

“My outstanding ice hockey skills resulted in me being selected to play for the country in the 2022 World Championships, and this year I will participate again and was awarded the South African colours for ice hockey.”
