Local coach gets international licence

BRYANSTON – Transition Football coach Claudio Lorenzani preserved for over a year, training both online and in-person in Scotland, to obtain the qualification with the associations’ coach education department.

Transition Football coach Claudio Lorenzani is looking to boost the local football community after recently achieving his Scottish Football Association UEFA B Licence.

Lorenzani persevered for more than a year, training both online and in-person in Scotland to obtain the qualification.

“It was a very long and rigorous process which required a lot of balance between doing the coaching and trying to survive in a pandemic with all the restrictions,” he said.

He added that attaining the licence was not only a big step for him but it was an overall win for the local football community as a whole.

“I think that we are starved of coaching education in South Africa and by having this [licence], it is not only great for our players [at Transition Football] but for the other players in the area as I look to support other coaches through seminars.”

Lorenzani has been in the coaching profession for close to 11 years after making the transition from being a player.

“As a coach, I can see the number of lives that we can change, both players and coaches, and that is fantastic.”

Lorenzani looks forward to getting back onto the pitch with his players at Transition Football for an undoubtedly exciting year ahead.
