Five things to love about the return of parkrun

SANDTON – Join the Atholl or Ernest Ullmann parkruns every Saturday from 08:00.

After almost two years later, parkrun is making a gradual return across the country.

With the restrictions easing, more locations are able to reopen from October 30 including the Atholl and Ernest Ullmann parkruns.

Parkrun South Africa shares five things to love about the return of parkrun:

1. Getting communities back together

Parkrun is a community event, bringing local communities, friends and families back together. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or whether you’re walking, jogging, running, volunteering or spectating, parkrun is for everyone.

2. The joy of volunteering

From run director to barcode scanner to tail walker, there is something for everyone. 3. We are a family Parkrun is for everyone no matter your age or background. Children can also be registered for a barcode from the age of four and there’s no upper age limit to taking part, whether it’s walking, jogging running or volunteering.

4. Milestones

As parkrun makes a comeback, it is the perfect time to target your next milestone. In addition to the 50, 100, 250 and 500 milestone T-shirts, parkrun has added a new 25 milestone T-shirt. More milestones mean more chances to celebrate with friends and family.

5. First-timers It is the perfect time to encourage more people to kick-start their park run journey. First-timers are always welcome. All parkruns are free to attend. Join the Atholl or Ernest Ullmann parkruns every Saturday from 08:00.
