Brescia skater spins to the top

BRYANSTON – The 17-year-old recently achieved a podium place in three different sections at the Gauteng North Provincial Figure Skating Competition.

Brescia House School skater Donatella Glatter continues to spin her way to the top.

The 17-year-old recently achieved a podium place in three different sections at the Gauteng North Provincial Figure Skating Competition.

According to Donatella, not only was it an honour to compete in the provincial competition but the podium finishes were an added bonus. “I enjoyed the competition and this is the most I’ve enjoyed the sport in my entire life. Of course it is also a gratifying sensation to be on the podium but I’m more excited about my new-found love for this sport.

“It was so wonderful being able to prepare and skate in a competition after so many months of Covid-19 restrictions. It was nice to be back in the competition environment and to perform again.”

After beginning her journey on the ice over 10 years ago, it remains a part of Donatella’s life that she would not change. “It has been a lot of sacrifice and hard work but an experience I wouldn’t trade for the world. I have learnt so many life lessons and so much about myself throughout my ice skating journey.”

Donatella looks forward to preparing for the national championships which are set to take place in Gauteng next month.
