Transition Football enjoys time together

BRYANSTON – Local soccer centre has a blast at training camp and talent clinic.

Bryanston’s Transition Football enjoyed a training camp and talent clinic with top international coaches and experts recently.

These included Michael Osiguwa of West Ham United, Craig Smith of Oxford United, former Orlando Pirates MDC head coach Michael Loftman and Mamelodi Sundowns analyst Dayle Solomons.

Aside from analyst Solomons, the guests all hold Uefa A and B coaching accreditation.

“For the children we did a talent ID clinic, to have coaches come and see our talent and assess players accordingly,” explained Claudio Lorenzani, Tansition Football’s director of football.

“We identified a few really good players which we are looking to place in our programme and get them out to places locally and abroad which we have done with our other players. The guests imparted valuable knowledge to the children as well in terms of what is required to be a professional, and installed the mindset of not only excelling in football but also at school for a plan B.”

Lorenzani added that he was fortunate enough to go play overseas at the age of 19, although he felt that was still too late.

“So the idea was to bring the world to South Africa and give our boys the opportunity to do well.”

The programme included some players being in camp for a week and absorbing as much knowledge as they could from the coaches.

“Our U13s and U17s had a fantastic mini academy league campaign so we will be looking to build on that for the new year through an advanced academy programme which we will be launching.”
