TS Galaxy enjoys Sandton

PARKMORE – Professional soccer outfit compliments the facilities of George Lea Park, their new home

Top flight soccer club, TS Galaxy FC is enjoying its new home in Sandton.

The Premier League Soccer side from Mpumalanga purchased the status of Highlands Park before the season started, and now trains at George Lea Park (Sandton Sports Club) in Parkmore.

Top players such as Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Karabo Tshepe, Mxolisi Macuphu, Ebrahim Seedat, Marlon Heugh and Bevan Fransman can be seen training in the mornings under the tutelage of head coach Dan Malesela and assistant coach Zipho Dlangalala.

The team still travels to Mbombela Stadium for matches but plans are under way to integrate community programmes at its new home.

“I have been a lawyer in Sandton since 2003 and it is part of the reason why I moved the club here,” said TS Galaxy FC owner, Tim Sukazi.

“Many people in the area do not know a top team trains in their backyard. We have already started a local programme by integrating local U18 and U19 players in our squads.”

He said open trials would be held for locals to join the club in the coming months. For now though, the focus was on the first team performing well in the Premier Soccer League.

The MultiChoice Diski Challenge, now called DSTV Diski Challenge, team has also been organised and will start playing when the competition is held again.

“With time we will host trials for people to join our junior teams [ U13, U15, U17 and U19]. We will also start programmes at local schools to get them involved in soccer.”

He said the grounds and facilities at George Lea Park were well-maintained and the presence of TS Galaxy had improved this in what they brought to the table in terms of more money and expertise for groundkeeping.
