Bryanston golf instructor honoured

Even during this unpredictable year, Middleton has continued on her path to make a difference.

Bryanston Country Club’s very own Leigh-Jane Middleton has been honoured with this year’s Grow Golf Award.

Currently the head professional instructor at Bryanston Country Club, Middleton was honoured by the Professional Golfers Association of South Africa (PGA SA) for contributing to the growth of the game.

“Winning this award is by far the highlight and most memorable for sure. It makes all the long hours, hard work and sacrifices all worthwhile,” said Middleton.

She began her journey in the sport at the young age of 17, playing fulltime for a number of years while she represented both Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. “I then turned pro and enrolled in the PGA Apprentice three-year diploma, qualifying in 2006. Playing golf and then working in the industry for almost 20 years, has allowed me to follow a dream and passion, the best part is that I believe I have touched people’s lives along the way.”

Going on 17 years now in the coaching scene, Middleton believes that this was always the path that she was intended to take.

“I believe I was born to do this – help people – and golf is the platform. I have been guided and moulded by some of the best coaches in the country and I believe we are never too old to learn. I learn from clients and students every day.”

Even during this unpredictable year, Middleton has continued on her path to make a difference. “Winning this award in this year full of uncertainties with the Covid-19 pandemic and global crises is, in my opinion, a humbling achievement. It has shown me that we can overcome this very scary time and just because the future may not be that clear anymore, our hard work will still be recognised.”
