Local coach to complete prestigious Uefa coaching course

"Lockdown has brought a pretty dark time to the sports industry with much uncertainty," Lorenzani told Sandton Chronicle.

Transition Football’s director of football has been selected among hundreds of top soccer coaches around the world to study a prestigious Uefa coaching course.

Claudio Lorenzani will complete the Uefa B Licence Introductory Course through online lessons with the Scottish Football Association, which will culminate in him going to Scotland to show what he has learnt.  “Lockdown has brought a pretty dark time to the sports industry with much uncertainty,” Lorenzani told Sandton Chronicle.

“I managed to keep motivated by doing courses and online training with the children. But I really put this course in my sights as my biggest priority. I think we have worked harder during lockdown than normal in terms of checking on players and designing programmes, so I was working long days with that and doing the build up courses in the evening.”

The coach was awarded for his hard work as many coaches from around the world applied for the course but were turned down.

“I can’t wait to see the content this week over zoom and also meet new coaches who share a similar passion in developing players at the highest level. There is always someone special on the course that either has played or coached at professional level. So my plan is to act like a sponge and absorb all the knowledge possible.”

Lorenzani also looks forward to attending the practicals in Scotland, where he and other top coaches will work with development players and put their theories to the test.”  All in all, I just want to see Transition Football’s players and coaches benefiting from all the ideas and contacts that will be made from this course.”
