Participants of the parkrun in Atholl enjoyed a sunny morning in celebration of its 100th race on 1 February. The milestone event was made possible by 20 volunteers and spearheaded by race director, Jean Baillie.
Baillie noted that she was immensely proud of what the parkrun has achieved thus far as she looks forward to the growth of the Atholl family. “It is amazing to see the faces and numbers grow each week.”
Close to 450 participants ran, jogged and walked the trail, of whom 94 were first-timers and 38 recorded new personal bests.

Three runners, Desmond Clay, Joan Cox and Corné du Plessis, celebrated a milestone of their own, wrapping up their 50th race. “It was hard in the beginning but it is so much fun. I highly recommend that people think about joining parkrun,” said Cox.
Baillie went on to mention the commitment of the runners when just over 130 of them turned up the week prior to dominate the trail on a rainy Saturday morning. “We have created a family that will continue to grow and grow. It can only get better from here on.”
“Thank you to all participants and volunteers who made our 100th event such a success,” Baillie concluded.
