WATCH – JNW Chess kicks off in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – The Johannesburg North West Chess Club hosted over 100 players at its first tournament for the year at Bryanston Primary School.


The Johannesburg North West Chess Club welcomed more than 100 chess players from all over to take part in this year’s opening tournament at Bryanston Primary School on 1 February. The tournament welcomed players of all ages and skill levels to take part.

Matches began as early as 8am and continued right through into the early evening. After all five rounds concluded, a short prize-giving ceremony was conducted where the top players in each division were honoured.

“This is the first tournament of the year. Thank you for excellent attendance. Well done to all the winners and players on the day,” said the club’s president Marcel Fauconier.

The next tournament is set to take place at Trinity House in Randpark Ridge on 22 February at 8am.
