Springboks beat Canada, look to quarter-finals

KOBE – The Springboks take advantage of another red card to run rampant in the Rugby World Cup.

The Springboks have all but earned a spot in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals after beating Canada 66–7 in their final pool B match.

As long as Italy do not miraculously beat New Zealand by close to 100 points, we are through to the knockout stages.

South Africa will either play Japan or Ireland, depending on how pool A finishes and the result of the game between New Zealand and Italy on 12 October.

The winner of pool B will play the runner-up of pool A and the runner-up of Pool B will play the winner of pool A.

These two quarter-finals will be played on 19 and 20 October respectively.

As in their game against Italy, South Africa were helped by poor discipline again when Canada’s Josh Larsen received a red card for a shoulder charge in the 36th minute

South Africa was well ahead 40–0 at the time and the result was all but decided except on paper.

Canada defended better in the second half but it was always a losing cause for the men in red and white.
