Up-and-coming polo players shine in the 2019 Inanda Development Cup Polo

INANDA – Polo is of the highest quality at the 2019 Inanda Development Cup Polo.

 


A relaxing atmosphere settled over Inanda Club when guests got to enjoy a delicious lunch while watching players of all backgrounds take to the field for a series of polo matches.

The 2019 Inanda Development Cup Polo included 10 teams, each featuring a mix of professional and novice players from across the country, that took each other on between 26 and 28 July.

This included the Four-Goal Aon Development Cup, a four-team knockout match and the Zero-Goal Aon Development Cup, a six-team knockout game which was played fiercely with the teams going head-to-head in their quest to win the Development Cup title and trophy.

The final day saw a crowd of spectators show their support for the event.

The Blue Label Team was the victors of the Zero-Goal Cup final, with young Kwanele Kula joined by teammates Renate Klaas, Zac Levy and Craig James.

Team Key Containers finished second. Ritali Cronje, playing in Team Inanda, scooped the most valued player award and the best pony award went to Stitches, the horse owned by Murray Butcher.

Team Familia 4 played brilliantly throughout the tournament and were awarded the title of the Four-Goal Aon Development Cup. The team comprised of young budding stars Thomas Ayipa, Juaan Ferreira, Joe Spilsbury and Terence Spilsbury.

The runners-up of this cup were the Aon Development Team.

The most valued player of the cup was awarded to Motlatsi Tsakatsi and the best pony was awarded to Tango, owned by Harold Darko and ridden by Zompie Tsotetsi.

Twelve up-and-coming polo players shone at the event and proved ones to look out for in the 2019 polo season.

These, with their handicaps, were Thulani Phungula (-1), Zolani Mjolo (Makete) (-1), Bafana Skosana (-1), Nathi Chabala (2), Kwanele Kula (Sanele) (0), Michael Mokwena (-1), Thomas Ayipa (1), Joe Sello (-1), Thokozane Zondo (1), Donono Lithula (2), Zompie Tsotetsi (2) and Motlatsi Tsakatsi (Lala) (-1).
