Montrose Night Challenge third round and catch-up matches
PARKMORE – After the two first rounds of the Night Challenge were rained out, teams met in the third round.
Despite the first two rounds of the Montrose Night Challenge being rained out, the third round of cricket matches were completed as well as some catch-up games.
On 8 February, four cricket matches were played.
The first game was Redhill School vs Dainfern Preparatory School. Redhill scored 131/5 in their 20 overs with Dainfern taking the win for the loss of three wickets in 18 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was awarded to Nicholas Delport of Dainfern for scoring 59 runs not out.
The second game was a battle between Alexandra Schools XI and Kyalami Preparatory. The Alex XI trumped Kyalami Preparatory after the victors posted a massive 212/2 in 20 overs with Kyalami being bowled out in 16.3 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was Sipho Potsane of Alex XI who scored 78 runs not out.
The third game was Bryneven Primary School vs Grayston Preparatory School.
Grayston emerged victorious after they scored 132/2 in 18.1 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was James McGregor of Grayston for scoring 76 runs not out
The final game of the round was between Bryandale Primary School and HeronBridge College.
Bryandale scored 110/7 in 20 overs but were outplayed by HeronBridge who scored 116/6 in 15 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was Rogan Evans of HeronBridge for a well-played 49 runs.
Catch-up games:
The final catch-up match of the first round was between Redhill School and Montrose Primary School.
Montrose won the match after scoring 122/0 in 7.4 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was Morteza Manack of Montrose for scoring 67 not out.
The first catch-up fixture from 1 February was between Rivonia Primary School and Crawford Preparatory Fourways.
Rivonia scored 258/4 in 20 overs to take the win over Crawford Sandton who were all out in 13.4 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was Lucius Uys of Rivonia for scoring 115.
The second catch-up game from 1 February was between Beaulieu Preparatory School and Bryandale Primary School.
Bryandale won the match after scoring 138/8 in 17.2 overs.
The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was Ethan McCabe of Bryandale for scoring 58 not out.
The third catch-up game was between Alexandra Schools XI and Crawford Sandton.
After going on and off the field due to lightning, the coaches decided it would be safer to call off the game and share the point.
