First team cricket player from Hyde Park High is given a guard of honour after his final game

A 1st team cricket player from Hyde Park High School was recently given a guard of honour following his final match for the school.

On 20 October the 1st team played against Randpark High School and Andrew Ingman of Hyde Park High School closed his schoolboy cricket career on a high note with five wickets for 18 runs as he proceeded to bowl the opponents out.

His final year of cricket at Hyde Park High comprised of 1 554 runs for the season at an average of 91,41 per match, with knocks of four 50s and six 100s to add to the 40 wickets taken at an average of 8,97 per wicket, with three five-wicket hauls.

In addition, Ingman broke all of the school’s previous cricket run records, including most runs in a season (1 554 runs) which was previously held by Jimmy Cook (695 in 1970).

His highest score in a match of 228 while the previous record holder was Nicolas Isabel with 218 runs.

Following the final match, the 1st cricket team members gave Ingman a guard of honour as he left the field, acknowledging his substantial contribution to the team as a batsman, bowler and leader during his three years as a member of the 1st team.

Ingman was a key member of the 1st cricket team and he is excited about his future in the sport; heading off to the United Kingdom next year where he will be playing club cricket.

The school’s headmaster Manolis Vogiatzis has developed a keen interest in cricket and acknowledged Ingman’s noteworthy contribution to the school.
