Inanda Club hosts the Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo

The Inanda Club was painted pink once again for the fourth annual Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo.

The theme this year was ‘pink fire’ and the community dressed accordingly and in style, on 27 October.

It was a day full of polo, live music and fashion, that saw high society come together in aid of charity.

Reach for Recovery, a breast cancer support group, which provides prostheses for breast cancer survivors, were the beneficiaries again.

“I want to thank everyone for the part they played in improving the quality of life for people who could not do it for themselves,” said Reach for Recovery board chairperson, Stephané Jacobs.

“We help 5 000 patients per year and this year we have seen an increase in caseload per volunteer.”

Last year, R130 000 was raised for the group, and while the proceeds are still being counted, this year’s edition was even bigger than last year’s.

A marching band and acrobatic performance kicked things off before the speeches.

Then, performances by Unathi and Kwesta were followed by a Diane Paris fashion show, keeping the crowd entertained for hours.

Afterwards, hundreds of balloons were released into the air, kicking off a polo match between a South African team (Team Black) and an international team (Team Whirlpool).

Once this was over, prizes were given to the best-dressed man, woman and couple.

Edith Venter from Edith Venter Promotions, the event organisers, thanked everyone for their contributions toward a good cause.

Inanda Club general manager, Paul Oosthuizen also thanked attendees for making the event a success.
