Bryanston Country Club celebrates 70th anniversary with ladies golf challenge

BRYANSTON – Ladies celebrated the club's 70th anniversary with a fun morning of golf.

The Bryanston Country Club‘s 70th-anniversary celebrations ended on a high note with a ladies interclub golf challenge.

Tilani Edwards, marketing manager of the club, said, “This club has evolved far beyond comprehension over the past few years and to celebrate their anniversary they hosted a series of golfing events.”

The event attracted ladies from various clubs around Gauteng and was incredibly popular as over 140 ladies participated in the challenge. Many of the previous ladies captains along with several of the founder members joined in on the celebration.

“Ladies were encouraged to embrace the theme and dress in ‘plus-fours’ golf attire from the 1940s. After a round of golf, the ladies committee at Bryanston had some fun with a fashion parade that took the audience through golf attire from the various decades,” said Edwards.

The club was originally intended to be a golf course, however, the founding members decided that it should become a country club rather than just a golf course. Since then, the club has become an institution and has continuously grown over the years, adding on numerous rooms to the clubhouse and catering to a variety of activities, including bowls and squash.

The challenge ended off on a high, with lunch served and fantastic prizes that were sponsored.
