Cherry on top for Redhill

SANDTON – It's been a successful year of cricketing for Redhill School across the board.

It has been a remarkable year for the Redhill School 1st cricket team.

“The 2017 season has been one to remember for the 1st cricket team,” said head coach, Elias Marumo.

“They won a total of 24 games out of 36. The season was extremely busy where we participated in the Johnny Waite Tournament, the Johannesburg League, the Potchefstroom Festival, the Crawford T10, the St Peters T20 and other friendly matches.

“The 1st team finished the season in third place in the Johannesburg League while the juniors impressed with their first placing.”

He added that special mention must go to Brendan Swarts and Shaahil Bhagaloo who were selected for the Potchefstroom Superstar tour team to Sri Lanka. “Brendan Swarts and Shaahil Bhagaloo along with Imaad Moosa, (U15A), Jarred Naidoo (U15B) and David Okaro (U15A), all made their respective district teams.”

Another player who deserved praise was Ash-Lee Harvey. “We are so proud of Ash-Lee at Redhill School who made it to the final round of the cricket provincial trials, said Donovan Kroet, manager of Redhill cricket.

“In addition to this, Ash-Lee joined his teammates Jarrod O’Flaherty and Yadav Deeplaul who were selected to play in the Joburg East District U15 provincial cricket team.”
