Saints to host prestigious water polo invitational

SANDTON – St Stithians College is hosting the 24th Saints Water Polo Invitational from 19-22 October, welcoming 50 teams to compete in the largest schools' water polo event in the world that is held at one venue.

St Stithians College will host the 24th Saints Water Polo Invitational from 19 to 22 October at the school’s aquatic centre.

Prep and college water polo games will span over an action-packed four days from 12.45pm on 19 October.

The Saints Water Polo Invitational is known as the largest schools’ water polo event in the world that is held at one venue, attracting much attention to this popular tournament.

There will be 50 participating teams from schools in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Zimbabwe.

St Stithians Girls’ College water polo team will be fighting it out again this year at the 24th St Stithians Water Polo Invitational from 19 to 22 October.

Over the weekend, 175 games will be played by 650 competitors. The venue boasts a hospitality zone with a players’ chill area, hospitality tent for over 18s and a variety of food and drink options.

The finals for all three age groups will take place on 22 October followed by a prize-giving ceremony. During the prize- giving, an All Star team will be announced comprising players selected by water polo coaches during the event.

In 2016, Reddam House Girls’ Prep Cape Town took home the junior girls’ title, St David’s Marist Inanda Prep took home the junior boys title, St Stithians Girls’ College took home the senior girls’ title and Rondebosch Boys’ High took home the senior boys’ title.
